Quebec Winter Carnival wins tourism award

Quebec City winter festival wins ‘Event of the Year’ at Canadian Tourism Awards.

The 57th annual Quebec Winter Carnival, in beautiful, historic Quebec City, has won the 2011 ‘Event of the Year’ award from the Canadian Tourism Industry.

“This proof of recognition is the result of strategic choices over the last few years,” said Jean Pelletier, General Director of the carnival. “Every year, we strive to offer things that have never been seen before and to create the most innovative and audacious programming. Carnival continues to prove its popularity with international visitors, tourists, and overseas media.”

Over the course of the last few years, the carnival has made changes to help improve the event and to meet expectations of visitors seeking a truly unique Quebecois experience. The addition of new sites and shows, sporting events, family-friendly activities, plus a great nightlife have helped improve the quality of the carnival.

The upcoming 58th annual Quebec Winter Carnival, including parade, sleigh rides, snow sculptures and a sugar shack, will be held from January 27 to February 12, 2012.
