Researchers at Boston University have discovered that a diet rich in choline could be very beneficial for the brain, providing protection against aging and dementia.
Choline is a nutrient of the B family of vitamins, and found especially in chicken, eggs or saltwater fish, as well as in legumes such as kidney beans.
According to tests conducted with volunteers, those with a diet rich in choline were better at memory tests and were less likely to develop dementia.
Experts note there is no magic cure for dementia, and emphasized that a healthy, balanced diet can help protect the brain from the effects of aging.
The Daily Mail also noted that a Mediterranean diet, rich in fish, vegetables and olive oil, was also known for its protective effects on the brain.
