Rolling Stones to plan 50th anniversary celebration

Classic rock band will meet in December to decide how to celebrate the milestone.

Squabbling bandmates Mick Jagger and Keith Richards hope to put aside their differences in time for the Rolling Stones’ 50th anniversary next year, and plan to meet in December to decide what they will do to mark the occasion, an industry source revealed to Rolling Stone magazine.

"I don’t see why in the world the Stones can’t put together some kind of show next year," guitarist Richards revealed. "I’d almost count on it. It doesn’t have to be the whole spectacle bullsh– again, but we’ve got to find our own way through this."

Added frontman Jagger: ""It is quite amazing when you think about it. Anything’s possible."

The group is still deciding what exactly they want to do for the momentous milestone, but the members have some ideas: "I think the idea of doing multiple shows in certain cities – New York, L.A., maybe Chicago, maybe Atlanta – would be wonderful," said keyboardist Chuck Leavell.

Saxophonist Bobby Keys is in favor of skipping all the travel usually involved with touring: "In my fantasy of Rolling Stones gigs, I would like to see a gig that’s centralized in one place: let the people come to us instead of making all that traveling. That’s always the main thing that bothers me about going on the road."
