H&M and Versace – beginning of a beautiful friendship?

Fall collection sold out in 24 hours, spring collection rumored to be on the way.

The recent Versace fashion collection for H&M was so successful that the Swedish retailer is already planning a new collaboration with the Italian fashion house, reports WWD.

Last June, the Swedish retail giant had announced the new collaboration and Versace creative director Donatella Versace, sister of founder Gianni, said she was interested to see how the wider public would receive a collection from the Italian design house.

“For me this is an opportunity to show to the very, very big audience – the fans at H&M – what Versace has been and what Versace is now,” Donatella said in a video interview.

“Usually, as a designer I look at the future, I never look at the past. But being the sister of Gianni, you know, the DNA is Versace, and I’m going to use iconic Versace pieces of iconic Versace moments…,” she added, saying she didn’t want to give it all away, preferring to leave an element of surprise for the autumn launch.

Released November 17, the collection was a huge hit causing lineups outside of stores, selling out in 24 hours, and reselling online at inflated prices on eBay.

Now, H&M has plans to repeat its success with the launch of a new spring collection in February. Although there is no official confirmation, U.K.’s Mirror provided a sneak preview with photos showing strappy gold sandals, and fruit-patterned bikinis and short-shorts.

H&M has previously launched collaborations with Lanvin, Sonia Rykiel, Karl Lagerfeld, and Missoni, among others.
