Iggy Pop: Rock muse of Paco Rabanne

Real Wild Child singer to star in campaign for new fragrance Black XS L’Exces.

Franco-Spanish design house Paco Rabanne has made quite a splash resurrecting its brand this year – with the unlikely pairing of hard-living musician Iggy Pop and its latest fragrances for men and women, Black XS L’Excès, due out this January in France, reports the Daily Mail.

Although the 64-year-old singer might seem like an unlikely poster boy, the Paco Rabanne fragrance actually has a rock star theme that ties in nicely with the punk rocker bad boy.

Pop will star of in a series of Paco Rabanne ads created by music video director Jonas Åkerlund, known for his work on Paparazzi and Telephone for Lady Gaga, Ray of Light for Madonna and Moves Like Jagger for Maroon 5.

The new Paco Rabanne ad campaign featuring Iggy Pop will launch in 10 to 45-second versions on both television and in movie theaters in January.

At the beginning of the year, Paco Rabanne announced his return to the world of ready-to-wear fashion after a five-year absence. The brand’s triumphant return was achieved with the appointment of Indian fashion designer Manish Arora as the new creative director for women’s wear.

Ahora unveiled his first collection for the house – spring-summer 2012 – which was presented on the official Paris Fashion Week show calendar last month.
