Nicki Minaj does nails

Hip hop performer creates line of bold nail polish colors.

Hip hop star Nicki Minaj has partnered with salon product manufacturer OPI to create a new limited edition collection of six nail polishes, reports Coco Perez.

Due to hit stores in January 2012, the vibrant six-piece collection features nail polish colors inspired by Minaj’s own hit songs, including three glitters, one metallic and two bold solid hues. The limited-edition shades will retail for about $8.50 a bottle.

Sharing the name with her hit debut album, Pink Friday is a glittery light pink hue. Silver glitter sparkles against a dark background in Metal for Life, while rainbow-colored confetti explodes in Save Me. Super Bass Shatter is a rich dark purple with a metallic sheen. Fly, meanwhile, is a bold and bright solid aqua, while Did It on ‘Em shines in a vibrant neon lime.

"OPI is so excited to work with Nicki in releasing these six new nail lacquers," said company vice-president Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. "Nicki has taken the hip hop world by storm, but her music is only part of the equation. She’s also become a fashion inspiration, noted for her daring costumes and hair color both on and off the stage."

OPI is no stranger to celebrity collaborations, having previously partnered with Katy Perry and the Kardashians for their Kardashian Kolors line.
