Matt Damon plans directorial debut

Actor-writer teams up with John Krasinski to write script.

Matt Damon, actor and co-writer of the Oscar-winning screenplay Good Will Hunting, is planning to make his feature film directorial debut, reports Variety.

The actor-writer has teamed up with The Office actor John Krasinski, who initially developed the untitled project with Dave Eggers (A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, Away We Go, Where the Wild Things Are).

Damon and Krasinski co-wrote the script, which would see Damon play a salesman who arrives in a small town only to have his whole life called into question. Krasinski’s role was not revealed.

While awaiting a green light from the studio, preliminary plans are to shoot the mid-budget project on the East Coast in the near future.

In the meantime, Damon lends his voice to animated film Happy Feet Two, due in theaters on November 18. He also costars with Scarlett Johansson in We Bought a Zoo, which opens December 23.
