Steve Jobs tribute at digital music awards

MTV O Music Awards will honor Apple founder.

As part of the October 31 ceremony, the MTV O Music Awards – recognizing achievements in online fan interaction – will pay homage to Apple founder and CEO Steve Jobs.

The evening’s events will include a musical tribute to the genius behind the iTunes Music Store and the iPod, which revolutionized the way fans purchased and interacted with their music at a time when album sales were plummeting.

A number of artists will perform musical numbers in recognition of Jobs’ contribution to the digital music scene. The show will stream live online from Los Angeles, California beginning at 11:30 p.m. Eastern. So far, fans have cast over six million votes since the polls opened on September 27.

Kelly Clarkson, the Band Perry, Demi Lovato, Mac Miller, Midi Mafia and DJ Diamond Kuts are confirmed to attend as either presenters or performers during the ceremony. The event will also include an attempt to break the world record for the world’s longest dance party, which currently stands at 55 hours.
