Garbage to launch a new album in 2012

American alt rock band’s last album dates back to 2005.

A favorite of critics and fans of alternative rock since they formed in 1994, Garbage released four studio albums over their 17-year career.

Recently the quartet from Madison, Wisconsin announced that they have been working on an album that they hope to release in spring 2012, reports HitFix.

Garbage had instant credibility as it was founded with drummer Butch Vig, who three years earlier, was the producer for a little-known group from Seattle called Nirvana and their album Nevermind.

The last Garbage studio album, Bleed Like Me, dates back to 2005 and was very well received by critics and fans, reaching the fourth place on the Billboard 200.

"Years-worth of pent-up music came out in some bizarre ways- bleary cell phone memos became real songs, conversations turned into lyrics, and new computer gizmos inspired wicked tangents," said the members of Garbage in a statement. "We are making a record filled with the music we love to hear. The new songs have been inspired more by what we haven’t been hearing rather than by what we have."

No title has been announced yet, however the album will be co-produced by Vig and engineer Billy Bush.
