Avril Lavigne stops to smell the roses

Pop-punk princess launches new Wild Rose fragrance.

Pop-punk singer Avril Lavigne is expanding her fragrance line with the newest addition, Wild Rose, now available in stores, reports Basenotes.

Lavigne launched her first fragrance, Black Star, in 2009. Wild Rose was developed from her second fragrance Forbidden Rose released last year, and is described as "a luminous fusion of sun-kissed yellow fruits, dewy florals and sweet woody notes that embody a vibrant and feminine spirit."

Developed by P&G Prestige, Wild Rose contains fruity top notes of mandarin, grapefruit and plum, over heart notes of frangipani, blue orchid and orange blossom and base notes of sandalwood and crème brulee accord.

Lavigne stars in the new ad campaign, photographed by Naomi Kaltman. Elegantly dressed in a strapless, black dress, the singer reclines on a bed of pale pink rose petals that match the perfume bottle.

The pop-punk princess also stars in the campaign’s television commercial, which was filmed in Los Angeles, California and directed by Dave Meyers.

The clip opens on Lavigne wearing the black, strapless dress, with pink streaks in her hair, and heavily made-up eyes. Reclining on a chaise lounge, she is intrigued by a sound at the door. As silver vines made of barbed wire give way, the doors open with a burst of pink petals blown into the room, swirling around the singer.

Lavigne holds out her hand and the petals revert back into a large rose blossom. ”Dare to discover more,” Lavigne says in a voiceover at the end of the ad.
