New Aerosmith album next March?

Frontman Steven Tyler says the band is nearly finished recording.

American rock band Aerosmith hopes to release its next new album in March, frontman Steven Tyler told Rolling Stone at the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas this past weekend.

According to Tyler, after two months’ work on the new album, the band is "almost there. We’re gonna spend another month in L.A." When asked if there was a planned release date, Tyler replied: "March, hopefully."

Although the band released a compilation album, Tough Love: Best of the Ballads, earlier this year, the as-yet-untitled upcoming album will be their first new music since 2004’s Honkin’ on the Bobo, which included 11 covers and one original track, The Grind.

Despite a lack of original singles, Aerosmith has been back on the charts this year, with their old songs enjoying renewed popularity thanks to Tyler’s role as a judge on the popular singing reality show American Idol. For example, after performing the song I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing during a January episode of the show, Tyler helped propel the group’s 1998 hit back onto the Billboard’s Digital Songs chart at number 54.
