Rare Nirvana concert to air next week

Nirvana: Live at the Paramount released on DVD September 27.

In honor of the 20th anniversary of Nirvana’s seminal grunge album, Nevermind, U.S. network VH1 will be airing a never-before-seen concert movie, Nirvana: Live at the Paramount, next Friday (September 23), reports Rolling Stone.

The show – filmed at Seattle’s Paramount Theater on October 31, 1991 – is the only Nirvana concert shot on 16 mm film, and the only one available now in high-definition.

Along with several songs from Nevermind – including Breed, Lithium and Polly – the band also performs non-album numbers Sliver, Aneurysm and a cover of the Vaselines’ Jesus Doesn’t Want Me for a Sunbeam.

Nirvana: Live at the Paramount will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on September 27, alongside the special 20th anniversary editions of Nevermind. The special editions will be available in a number of formats including a super-deluxe edition with a 90-page collector’s book, an individually-numbered limited edition, and a 2-CD and 4-LP 180-gram vinyl edition.
