Bear sighting at Swiss jewelry company

Chopard rings should appeal to ‘Mama Bears.’

Swiss watch and jewelry brand Chopard unveiled its latest addition to its collection of nature-themed jewelry with the introduction of bear-shaped rings, reports Leblogluxe.com.

Creative director Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele, described the collection as a celebration of femininity and motherhood.

“In 2010, for our 150th anniversary, we launched a ‘Haute Joaillerie’ collection named ‘Animal World’ which was a great success. We wanted to continue this adventure by focusing on a bear cub, a figure that evokes many different emotions relating to childhood and to the joy of living.”

The white diamond pavé ‘Bear Cub Ring’ has a black onyx eyes and nose, and one free-floating ‘Happy Diamond;’ it’s also available in plain white gold. Another whimsical bear ring in 18-carat rose gold has brown tourmaline cabochon eyes and nose.

An animal lover and supporter of animal issues in general, Gruosi-Scheufele realized, after studying her favorite stuffed toys one sleepless night, that nature and animals would be an excellent theme.

The anniversary collection mixes tradition, advanced technique, and documented research that the luxury Swiss watchmaker is known for. She and her team of designers took a unique approach in choosing some animals that are not often represented in jewelry.

The Swiss company selected more unusual animals from the imaginary and unpleasant to the exotic and endangered, including hippopotami, seahorses, clown fish, sardines, rats, dragons, polar bears, and koalas.

The diamond-and-gemstone collection includes a diamond-set polar bear ring, antelope earrings, seahorse earrings, a bunny rabbit bracelet and a superb fish necklace.
