Heavy metal glamor from NARS Cosmetics

Limited edition Silver Odyssey collection for Vogue Fashion Night Out.

NARS Cosmetics is launching Silver Odyssey, two new products created in honor of Vogue‘s Fashion Night Out 2011.

For the first time to mark the special night, founder and creative director François Nars has created a collection – tied to a unique image by fashion photographer Guy Bourdin, who is a constant source of inspiration to Nars.

The Via Crispi Larger Than Life long-wearing eyeliner and Space Odyssey nail polish are both in richly-pigmented, metallic silvery hues inspired by Bourdin.

In honor of the special night, NARS will showcase the Guy Bourdin photograph in the windows of the NARS flagship boutique on Bleecker Street in New York City.

As a make-up artist and photographer, Nars began the cosmetics line with twelve lipsticks, and started his first advertising campaign doing the photography for the ads himself. NARS Cosmetics is now owned by Shiseido.

The limited collection is only available from September 6 to 15, with each item about $35.

One of the most influential fashion magazines, in 2009 Vogue launched an annual Fashion Night Out, with the proceeds of sales that night going towards various charitable causes. The event is co-hosted by Vogue publications in 27 cities around the US and 15 countries worldwide, and this year, also includes online retailers.
