New Music September 6

Back to school with House music.

House star Hugh Laurie today releases his debut music album, Let Them Talk. The 15-track album includes a range of standards and lesser-known classics, inspired by the blues scene in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Laurie, who has occasionally been seen singing and playing piano or guitar on his hit television series, covers tracks originally made famous by musical heavyweights Lead Belly, Robert Johnson, Ray Charles and Memphis Slim. Let Them Talk also features a number of collaborations with notable musicians like Greg Allman, Solomon Burke, Robert Plant, kd lang, T-Bone Burnett, Alison Krause and John Legend.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Lindsey Buckingham – best known as the guitarist from Fleetwood Mac – releases his sixth solo album, Seeds We Sow. The album comprises 11 tracks, plus two bonus tracks: an acoustic version of End of Time and an electric version of title track Seeds We Sow. Most of the songs were composed by Buckingham himself, except for She Smiled Sweetly written by Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

Also out this week: several artists get together to release a tribute album for Buddy Holly, titled Listen To Me: Buddy Holly, country singer George Strait releases Here For a Good Time, and Quebecois group The Last Assassins release their self-titled debut album.
