Fall festivals in Quebec

Several festivals kick off this month throughout La Belle Provence.

This fall, the province of Quebec comes alive with a number of fairs and festivals from country-western to sacred music, reports La Presse.

Running September 9 to 18, the Festival western de Saint-Tite (Saint-Tite Western Festival) offers an authentic rodeo experience in the French town, including riding, timed and agility events, along with musical performances and traditional square dancing.

Those looking for something more solemn can check out the Festival des musiques sacrées de Québec (Quebec Sacred Music Festival). From September 10 to 18, musical performers like Gregory Charles, and the Chœur de chambre du collège vocal de Laval (Chamber Choir of the collège vocal de Laval) will visit the capital.

On the weekend of September 9 to 11, over 30 painters will rendezvous in the village of Tadoussac for the Le Happening de peinture de Tadoussac festival. "This ‘happening’ attracts nationally renowned painters who channel their talent and passion to immortalize sites whose rich beauty allows the artists to indulge in a palette of vibrant colors!" explains Bonjour Quebec.

Rounding out the month, the Festival canard en fête a Lac-Brome (Brome Lake Duck Festival) takes place on the weekends of September 17-18 and 24-25. Enjoy tasty duck straight from Brome Lake at this street festival taking place in the town of Knowlton.
