Director named for Die Hard 5

Max Payne director chosen for fifth installment of the franchise.

After a lengthy search, Irish director John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, The Omen, Max Payne) has been invited to “Come out to the coast, we’ll get together, have a few laughs…” by Bruce Willis and 20th Century Fox to direct Die Hard 5.

Moore will replace Noam Murro (Smart People) who dropped out to direct Frank Miller’s 300: Battle of Artemisia, reports Deadline.

Filming is expected to begin soon in Russia with a screenplay written by Skip Woods (The A-Team, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), which reportedly has John McClane and his son traveling to Russia to save the day.

Willis was catapulted to movie star status with the success of the first Die Hard film in 1988. The first four Die Hard action films have earned more than $1 billion in total box office revenue. The most recent installment, 2007’s Live Free or Die Hard, featured McClane and his daughter battling cyber-terrorists.

Willis has several films awaiting release dates, including Catch .44, Lay the Favorite, and The Cold Light of Day.
