Vancouver’s Waldorf Hotel reopens

Classic B.C. hotel turned into hub of creativity.

Vancouver’s Waldorf Hotel has been given a complete overhaul after 63 years in business, turning the once-fading hotel into a hub of artistic activity, reports La Presse.

Located in an industrial section of East Vancouver, the landmark has been "reimagined as a creative compound where contemporary art, music, food and culture convene under one roof," explains the hotel website.

"The complex consists of renovated hotel rooms, two restaurants (Nuba Cafe and The Leeteg Dining Room), a Tiki Bar (restored and retrofitted with a vintage analogue audiophile sound system), Barbarella hair salon, gift shop, a live music venue, nightclub and multi-media theater space. In the works is a recording studio, tied to a residency program for visiting musicians."

Rooms range from a Cozy Queen costing $95 a night to a Double Queen costing $110 a night. The hotel allows pets and offers free parking, complimentary wireless Internet access, as well as event catering, AV equipment and onsite photocopy and print services.
