Queen fan wants to push song to the top

20th anniversary of Freddie Mercury’s death.

One of the biggest fans of the British group Queen, James Murden, wants to mark the 20th anniversary of the death of lead singer Freddie Mercury by encouraging people to purchase and download the song I Want to Break Free, beginning today (August 29) until September 4, so that it reaches number one on September 5, reports Music-News.

In doing so, Murden wants pay tribute to Mercury, one of the greatest rock singers of all time, and he also hopes people will respond to his call to raise funds for the Mercury Phoenix Trust. The charity, established by his bandmates after the death of the artist on November 24, 1981, supports AIDS research.

"I know I’m just 1 fan but if we all muddle together and download the single next week, this could really happen,” said Murden. “It’s great to have such a good response already, there are a lot of passionate Freddie fans out there”

If he were still alive, Mercury would have celebrated his 65th birthday on September 5.
