Michael Jackson tribute still on despite fan complaints

Star-studded tribute concert will go ahead on October 8.

Concert organizers say they will proceed with the Michael Jackson tribute concert scheduled for October 8 in Wales, despite complaints from many of Jackson’s fan clubs, reports the International Business Times.

"We are 100 percent going ahead. We will continue to announce names for the line-up. We are moving forward and now we will try to address issues that have been raised by fans," said Juliette Lewis, spokeswoman for Global Events Live, the group organizing the show.

Although it is still some months off, the show is already causing controversy. Fans are upset about the confusion over which charitable organization will receive the proceeds from ticket sales, as well as the timing of the event, which will take place while Jackson’s doctor is sitting trial for involuntary manslaughter.

Rock band Kiss has already been removed from the line-up due to fan complaints, after it came to light that frontman Gene Simmons had made unfavorable comments about Jackson.

Scheduled performers include Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Smokey Robinson. Beyoncé will also perform via satellite.
