Hendrix box set of Winterland Ballroom performances

4-disc set highlights the late guitar hero’s sets at historic venue.

A unique, live box set from legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix was  announced as part of the ongoing Jimi Hendrix Catalogue Project by Experience Hendrix LLC and Sony Commercial Music Group.

Entitled Winterland, the four-disc collection comprises six shows recorded over three days in October 1968 at the famous historic Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. These historically-significant performances came on the heels of the iconic Electric Ladyland LP and also marked the two-year anniversary of the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

The box contains rare live versions of Manic Depression, Are You Experienced, Tax Free, and Little Wing as well as cover’s of Cream’s Sunshine Of Your Love, Bob Dylan’s Like A Rolling Stone, and Howlin’ Wolf’s Killing Floor (joined by bassist Jack Casady of Jefferson Airplane).

A deluxe edition of the set features a rare interview with Hendrix discussing his approach to playing, songwriting and future musical direction that was recorded in the weeks following the Winterland performances. A 36-page book filled with previously unpublished images and an essay by respected Rolling Stone writer David Fricke is also included for diehard fans.

On September 13, the Jimi Hendrix Experience’s Winterland will be available as Deluxe Box Set, Audiophile LP Deluxe Box Set or as a condensed Winterland Highlights single disc.
