Travelodge UK to open 37 hotels

Hotel chain focusing on national park locations.

Known for affordable room rates, the Travelodge UK hotel brand announced plans to open 37 new hotels near national parks, reports the Daily Mail.

The company is planning rural locations near the UK’s 15 national parks, and is currently looking for sites located near Aviemore (Cairngorms) and Grasmere (Lake District), among others.

Travelodge wants to offer customers the opportunity to discover the English countryside with affordable accommodations, particularly since more citizens are opting to holiday at home.

“Traditionally, Britons have opted for a coastal or city break, but as more Britons explore the UK they are rediscovering new holiday hotspots and, as a result, we have seen a significant surge in rural breaks,” said Travelodge executive Guy Parsons.

New hotels will vary in size from 30 to 100 rooms and the expansion is expected to create about 500 jobs.

Travelodge currently has 475 hotels in the UK, Ireland, and Spain, and is planning to grow to 1,100 hotels by 2025.
