Amy Winehouse film planned

Biopic in development less than one month after singer’s death.

A film about the life of singer Amy Winehouse is in development. Currently, producers are looking for an actress to play the late singer on the big screen, reports FemaleFirst.

The Rehab singer died unexpectedly on July 23 at the age of 27 in her London home. An insider told UK newspaper The Sun, “The feeling is there wouldn’t be an actress under 30 who wouldn’t want to play her.”

"The first job is to get financial backing from co-production companies in the U.S. Some are showing interest because it’s a sure-fire money-spinner. They know anything Amy-related is going to be a huge success.”

Finding someone to play the raven-haired smoky-voiced singer could be difficult, although Lady Gaga is rumored to be interested in the part.

The theatrical performer said when she was just starting out, before she dyed her hair blonde, she was often mistaken for Winehouse. A great admirer of the singer, Gaga was so devastated by her death she claims she didn’t speak for 48 hours.

Gaga has reportedly been interested in making the transition from music to movies, and this may be the ideal role to make that happen.
