The Canadiens were in action last night in Philadelphia. Martin St-Louis’ men lost 3-2 in a shootout and didn’t have their biggest game of the season.
But it wasn’t just the Canadiens who were playing last night in the NHL… And in the LPHF. Two other games were presented on the Bettman circuit, as Marie-Phillip Poulin attempted to collect her first goal of the season with the Montreal squad.

1: Avalanche blank Golden Knights
This was a big test for the Avalanche, because we know how powerful the Vegas outfit is. But the Golden Knights are struggling these days, and this was a great opportunity for Nathan MacKinnon and his team to take advantage.
And that’s exactly what they did.
Towards the end of the first period, Jonathan Drouin assisted on the first goal of the game.
Who scored? Valeri Nichushkin.
And for Drouin, we’re talking about a 14th point in his last 14 games. He’s having a great time with the Avalanche lately.
Valeri Nichushkin has the icebreaker! π§

Nathan MacKinnon is probably the hottest player in the NHL right now.
By collecting an assist on Nichushkin’s second goal of the game, the Avalanche’s star forward broke a concession record: he has scored at least one point in his last 23 home games of the season.
Oh yes, and his assist also enabled him to join Nikita Kucherov at the top of the NHL scoring charts (67).

Alexandar Georgiev’s performance was the highlight of the game.
The Avalanche goaltender was solid, stopping all 25 shots he faced to earn his second shutout of the season and help his club win a second straight game.

2: Stars have fun against the Wild
Everyone knows that the Stars’ attack is devastating, and last night was a clear example of that.
The Dallas squad boasts a number of talented players, some with experience… It looks like the perfect mix, like.
Against the Wild, it was experience that spoke first: Joe Pavelski took advantage of a turnover to score his 16th goal of the campaign.
He’s not slowing down, even though he’s 39 years old. It’s a sight to behold.

Matt Duchene and Roope Hintz both scored in the second period to make it 3-0 in favor of the Stars…
But it was really in the third period that the Stars hurt the Wild. They scored no less than four goals, including this one from Jason Robertson :

Just over a minute later, it was Nils Lundkvist’s turn to get on the scoreboard.
It was his first goal of the campaign:

The game ended 7-2 in favor of the Stars, who, like the Avalanche, picked up their second win in a row.
Matt Boldy and Ryan Hartman scored for the Wild.

3: When Marie-Philip Poulin wakes up…
The Montreal team (LPHF) was in New York last night looking for its second win of the season.
They lost to Minnesota 3-0 last Saturday… and were looking to bounce back.
The result?
It was the Montreal captain who put the team on her shoulders to win by a score of 6-2.
Marie-Philip Poulin stood out with a hat trick:

Poulin is now tied with Minnesota’s Taylor Heise and Grace Zumwinkle for the league lead in points (4).
The Montreal team’s next game is on Saturday, against Boston.
