Gordon Ramsay opens restaurant in Montreal

Celebrity chef launches rotisserie restaurant Laurier Gordon Ramsay.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has opened his first restaurant in Canada, transforming the Rotisserie Laurier BBQ in Montreal into the Laurier Gordon Ramsay.

The redesigned restaurant, which will continue to serve its famed barbecue chicken, officially reopens today (August 10) with an overhauled interior design. According to Ramsay, the dated decor of the two-storey eatery resembled a retirement home.

"This is an amazing location, and it would have been a great shame to see it close," Ramsay explained to CTV News.

"Everyone keeps going on about how everyone fell in love with it, but no one’s been here for the last five years. Upstairs, for instance, has been closed for 12 years. So, reinvigorating and bringing it into the 21st century has been paramount."

The restaurant has been a local favorite since it first opened in 1936. Ramsay explained that he saw huge potential in the establishment when he first visited two years ago.
