Is this the end for David Bowie?

Author of latest biography believes the artist has quietly retired.

Author Paul Trynka has spent the last few years writing one of the most comprehensive biographies of the life and career of British musician David Bowie, and believes that we might never see the legend on stage again, reports Spinner.

The newly published David Bowie: Starman by former editor-in-chief of Mojo magazine said the artist has not released any new albums since 2003’s Reality. When asked if he thought Bowie had retired from the music scene, Trynka had mixed feelings.

"My heart says he’ll come back,[but] my head says he’s likely not to. I think he would only come back if he thinks he could deliver something that will be seismic. If you pop back into the stage, it’s got to be something that has a big explosion and lots of flashes. It would be a bit of a miracle if he comes back, but miracles do happen.”

Bowie underwent heart surgery in 2004, canceling the remainder of his tour. Since then, the 64-year-old singer-songwriter has appeared for one-off performances with the likes of Arcade Fire, David Gilmour, and Alicia Keys.

He also continues to take small roles and make cameo appearances in feature films like Zoolander, The Prestige, and Bandslam.
