New music July 26

Former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland releases solo album.

This week is a quiet one in new music, but there are a few notable releases either side of the Atlantic.

In North America, former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland’s new solo album is big news. Here I Am is her third solo studio album and includes ten new tracks plus four bonus tracks on the deluxe edition.

The album’s lead single Motivation – featuring rap star Lil Wayne – peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Song chart in May. Making it to number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100, it is Rowland’s highest charting solo single to date.

On the other side of the pond, British soul singer Joss Stone is back with a new studio album, LP1, her first since 2009’s Colour Me Free! The new release is Stone’s fifth studio album and was co-written and co-produced by David Stewart, a founding member of The Eurythmics.

Also out this week: Falling in Reverse – the new band from former Escape the Fate frontman Ronnie Radke – releases their debut album, The Drug in Me is You; singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton releases Rabbits on the Run, her first new album since 2007; and multi-platinum R&B artist Brandy Norwood teams up with her brother on Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business.
