Watch the Throne finally has release date

Collaborative album from Jay-Z and Kanye West due August 1.

Watch the Throne, the highly-anticipated collaborative album from rap stars Jay-Z and Kanye West, has finally been given an official release date – August 1, reports Clash Music.

The physical CD is expected to be released later that same week on August 5.

Somewhat unusual, the album’s debut single, H.A.M., will not appear on the album’s track list – instead it will be offered only as a bonus track on the deluxe edition.

A second single is expected to drop before the August 1 arrival. While no officially announcement has been made, rumors suggest that Lift Off – the album’s second track, featuring Beyoncé – could be chosen to herald the album’s release.

During a recent press conference, Jay-Z explained that the album has been through several changes since its inception. He and West were originally looking to make a very grandiose, elaborate album. Finding that the huge sound detracted from the enjoyment of the record, they toned it down as the project developed.
