New M83 album arrives October 17

Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming will be a double album.

Since co-founding M83 in 2001, up-and-coming French musician Anthony Gonzalez has made a name for himself in electronic instrumental music known as shoegazing.

Silent since the release of the 2008 album Saturdays = Youth, M83 is planning to release a new album in October, reports Clash Music.

Describing the new album, Gonzalez stated, “I think it is a reflection of my 30 years of being a human being. It’s a compilation of all my previous music together. It’s a retrospective of myself."

Fans may be in a forgiving mood after a 3-year wait, since Gonzalez has doubled up on the disc and announced that Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming will contain two discs instead of one.

According to NME, Gonzalez said, "It’s a double album. It’s mainly about dreams, how everyone is different, how you dream differently when you’re a kid, a teenager, or an adult. I’m really proud of it. If you’re doing a very long album, all the songs need to be different and I think I’ve done that with this one."

He continued: "Overall, it’s pop – and very epic. Anyone who loved M83 before, they’ll love this album even more. People that hated me, they’re going to hate this, too."

To whet fans’ appetite, M83 is giving away a free download of a track from the new album, Midnight City.
