Benjamin Millepied dances his way into YSL campaign

Star is on the rise for Natalie Portman’s fiancé and baby daddy.

Natalie Portman’s baby daddy, French ballet dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied, 34, recently modeled for French fashion house Yves Saint Laurent’s L’Homme Libre fragrance campaign, reports Coco Perez.

Millepied attended his fiancée’s shoot for Miss Dior Chérie campaign and apparently took notes. The principal dancer with the New York City ballet pirouettes through a campaign shot by famous fashion photographer and fellow Frenchman Patrick Demarchelier. The tag line reads, “Break Free,” which is kind of cute considering he is engaged and father to newborn Aleph.

“Benjamin’s unique style, his creative freedom, the positive energy he exudes and his dazzling charm won all our votes," said Renaud de Lesquen, President of YSL Beauté.

Millepied occupies the rarified air of YSL’s sexy Frenchmen – now a trio which includes Black Swan castmate Vincent Cassel, and Halle Berry’s boyfriend Olivier Martinez, who are the faces of La Nuit de L’Homme and L’Homme respectively.

For his part, Millepied said in a statement: "I’m happy and proud to have been chosen by Yves Saint Laurent, one of the world’s most prestigious brands. I admire the world of this house, its elegance and modernity. Monsieur Saint Laurent was a fashion genius, a lover of the arts, he also knew how to use his talent to serve the art of dancing."

Previously Millepied told WWD that he hadn’t given much thought to being a brand ambassador, "It’s something I never really thought of. The positive thing about it, I think, is I’m a dancer and it’s not usually the sort of thing…It’s always actors or models."

However, this isn’t the first time the famous French dancer has modeled. He previously pirouetted his way through an autumn 2010 Club Monaco fashion campaign alongside model Malgosia Bela.
