A new spa day in New York City

Kiehl’s makes luxury spa debut.

American cosmetics brand retailer, Kiehl’s, announced their expansion into the world of beauty salons with the grand opening of new, luxury locale, Spa 1851.

Located on 64th and Lexington, the two-storey site boasts vintage architecture, reclaimed tin ceilings and antique, oak fixtures.

Guests can enjoy the spa’s lounge, complete with a David LaChapelle rainforest mural, iPads, and Havaianas flip-flops before heading into three full treatment rooms, or a separate grooming station for men.

"It’s actually been an idea I’ve kicked around for the past six to seven years,” Kiehl’s president Chris Salgardo told Stylelist. “It was more of a question of when was the right time.

“Opening freestanding stores was the priority for us before launching anything else. About two years ago, I saw the location and knew it aligned with what today’s shopper wants, which is convenience."

Founded in 1851 as a single pharmacy in New York City’s East Village, Kiehl’s was purchased by the L’Oréal Group in 2000. Spa 1851 will continue the tradition of personalized skin care remedies, offering both signature facial and body treatments for men and women tailored to complement their individual skin diagnosis.

Infusion therapy, hand-blended masks and anti-aging packages are some of the offerings guests can enjoy. Prices range from $15 for a mustache trim to $330 for the ultimate Kiehl’s body restoration package.
