Aerosmith back in the studio

First studio album since 2004.

Boston rockers Aerosmith came close to imploding when lead singer Steven Tyler announced his intention to take a two-year break prior to entering drug treatment, and later agreeing to become a judge for TV singing contest American Idol.

The group will finally return to what it does best: music. Drummer Joey Kramer confirmed via Twitter that the band had finally arrived in the studio with longtime producer Jack Douglas.

Last month, the band was reportedly scheduled to enter the studio during the second week of July, but it appears they’re getting an early start on their 14th studio album.

This fall, the group will give a few shows in South America and later in Japan. However no dates have been announced with regard to a North American tour.

The band is enjoying a renewed popularity thanks to frontman Steven Tyler’s appearance on the hit TV show American Idol. The timing for Aerosmith’s next album, the first since 2004’s Honkin ‘on Bobo, couldn’t be much better.
