Aerosmith heading into studio in July

Band members meeting up second week of July.

The last couple of years have been tough ones for Aerosmith. They almost broke up in 2009 when the band searched for a new singer while frontman Steven Tyler was in rehab, and later openly criticized his choice to become an American Idol judge.

Having mended fences, and now that Tyler has wrapped up his TV day job, the Boston rockers have booked studio time the second week of July.

In a post on Twitter, guitarist Joe Perry wrote, "Whole band has plans to go into the studio with Jack Douglas second week of July to work on new Aero CD."

For their upcoming album, the band has once again turned to producer Jack Douglas, who has worked with the band almost from the start, from Get Your Wings (1974), Toys in the Attic (1975), Rocks (1976), Draw the Line (1977), and Rock in a Hard Place (1982) to the group’s most recent album, which dates back seven years, Honkin’ on Bobo (2004).

Tickets recently went on sale for the band’s fall tour of Latin America.
