Charlize Theron gives Dior time of day

From Monster to model in no time flat.

Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron has signed on as the face of Dior VIII watch collection advertising campaign, reports Coco Perez.

Although actress Natalie Portman reportedly ended her ties to the brand due to the controversy surrounding creative director John Galliano and his subsequent dismissal, Monster star Charlize Theron remains loyal to the French fashion house.

After seven years representing Dior perfume J’Adore, the actress is adding the Dior VIII watch collection to her ambassadorial portfolio.

The new collection offers three different watch styles: day and evening models are priced from $5,100 to $10,000 for a diamond version; and a limited edition cocktail model priced at $44,000 to $66,000.

A few years ago, The Road star was subject to a lawsuit from Swiss watchmaker Raymond Weil because she wore a Dior watch to press conference while she was under contract to publicly promote the Weil brand. Since the actress seems to already favor the brand, she shouldn’t run into any problems of a similar nature under her new contract.

Theron has recently starred alongside Patrick Wilson in the Diablo Cody-penned Young Adult drama directed by Jason Reitman, due for release this year. She is currently shooting the Alien prequel, Prometheus, directed by Ridley Scott and co-starring Noomi Rapace, for release June 8, 2012.
