Lady Gaga banned in Lebanon

Authorities seize a shipment of Born This Way.

The Lebanese government has banned the latest album Born This Way by Lady Gaga after deeming it “offensive to Christianity,” reports UK’s The Sun.

While the album is topping charts in 21 countries, it will not be making an appearance in the conservative Middle East country, as a shipment last week was immediately impounded by authorities in the General Security department on grounds of taste.

The country, which is mainly Muslim and Christian, had already banned her second single, Judas, from the radio. The song has received worldwide criticism from Catholic groups who found the lyrics and use of religious images in the video offensive.

Launched May 23, the album Born This Way has gone straight to number one, breaking downloading records due to promotional price of 99 cents on the day of its release.
