Christian Lacroix back in lingerie

French fashion label to develop new line for 2012.

The famous Parisian fashion house Christian Lacroix may have fallen victim to the recession, but the label lives on thanks to its multiple licenses. The brand has many projects underway, one of which is lingerie and swimwear, reports Vogue.

Sacha Walckhoff, creative director since Christian Lacroix’s departure in 2009, has been entrusted to restart a line of lingerie and swimwear with French lingerie brand Lejaby.

This new collection is expected to launch January 2012. The label plans to address both mature loyal customers and their daughters, with the hopes of introducing a new generation to the sophisticated and flamboyant style of Christian Lacroix.

No details have been released at this time regarding the style and look of the new line. However, the collection will be presented at Mode City in Paris this July 9 to 11.

The agreement reached with Lejaby, owned by Austrian group Palmers alongside brands Rasurel and Sun & Blue, could give new impetus to the lingerie brand Christian Lacroix. Lejaby lingerie also holds the license for another luxury brand which is none other than Nina Ricci.

In 1987, Lacroix opened his own couture house, and with his background in historical costume and clothing, he soon made headlines with opulent, fantasy creations, including the short puffball skirt ("le pouf"), rose prints, and low décolleté necklines.
