New Music May 10

Matthew Morrison’s solo album debuts this week.

This week, Glee star Matthew Morrison releases his debut solo album. The long-awaited, self-titled record features celebrity duets with Gwyneth Paltrow, Elton John, and Sting.

Earlier this month, the actor-singer revealed that he was nervous about the album’s reception. "Music is very exposing, it’s just me out there and that’s scary. This is my first time writing music and there’s a big spotlight on me and a lot of expectation," he told Fabulous.

Bringing new meaning to the term long-awaited, The Cars have released their first new album in 24 years with Move Like This. The band broke up in 1988 and former bandmates were not too hopeful about ever getting back together. However, last year, the original members reunited and began recording, minus bassist Benjamin Orr who died of pancreatic cancer in 2000.

Popular comedy trio The Lonely Island released their sophomore album today. Saturday Night Live stars Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone come together again to record Turtleneck and Chain, a follow-up to their 2009 album, Incredibad. The new recording features some major collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Akon, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Nicki Minaj, Michael Bolton, and Beck, among others.

Also out this week: classic heavy metal band Anvil returns to the scene with their new album Juggernaut of Justice and singer-songwriter Sam Roberts releases his fourth studio album, Collider.
