Hard Rock Cafe memorabilia to tour U.S.

Rock and roll exhibit goes on the road in celebration of 40th anniversary.

In honor of its 40th anniversary, the Hard Rock Café is sending 40 pieces of choice rock and roll memorabilia on a U.S. tour this summer.

Travelling in a big rig truck to various Hard Rock locations, the tour begins in New York City on May 18 and ends August 17 in Hollywood, Florida.

Since 1979, when Eric Clapton donated a red Fender guitar to the original Hard Rock Café in London, the company has amassed a huge collection of rock memorabilia, estimated to include 73,000 pieces.

Items on display will include Justin Bieber’s skateboard, the wedding dress Madonna wore in her Like a Virgin video, Michael Jackson’s red leather jacket from Beat It, and a Braille edition of Playboy that belonged to Ray Charles.
