Black Eyed Peas to play free benefit concert in NYC

Free concert in Central Park this summer to support Robin Hood charity.

Rock band the Black Eyed Peas will be performing a free concert in New York City’s Central Park this summer to benefit the poverty-fighting charity Robin Hood, reports ABC News.

The charity event, Concert 4 NYC, will take place June 9. Although admission is free, tickets are mandatory and will be given away by lottery. For your chance to win one of the 54,000 available tickets, visit the official Robin Hood site.

Of course, concertgoers are encouraged to make a donation to the charity, which helps to fight poverty in New York City through grants, relief funds and education initiatives.

To help raise funds, VIP tickets will be available, ranging in price from $500 to $2,500. VIP ticket-holders get their own entry and preferred seating. The $2,500 ticket also comes with a separate restroom, limited edition gift bag and on-site pre-party including an open bar and light food.

As part of the partnership arrangement between the Black Eyed Peas and Robin Hood, the band will launch three "Peapod Academy" arts centers for teenagers.
