Wedding dresses fit for a princess

Designer Alfred Angelo unveils Disney Fairy Tale Weddings collection.

Building on popular fairy tales of princess brides, designer Alfred Angelo has partnered with Disney to create wedding dresses based on Disney’s movies, reports Coco Perez.

From classics like Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, to more modern creations like Ariel, Princess Jasmine, Tiana, and Belle, brides who have grown up watching Disney movies can now have a fairy tale-inspired wedding dress fit for a princess.

Jenna Weisman, store manager of the Alfred Angelo Bridal store in Kentwood, Michigan explained how brides today are greatly influenced by Kate Middleton’s fairy tale romance.

“There is a heightened awareness and a heightened thought about the fact that this wedding is coming up…," said Weisman. “I think girls are definitely thinking ‘Gosh, I would love to be a princess, I would love to have all that.’"

Weisman said that the princess-style dress has always been popular, but the trend is especially hot right now, with brides choosing big ball-gown skirts, fitted bodices, extravagant beading, cathedral veils, and of course sparkling tiaras.

Weisman believes, "Girls want to be princesses and that has been going on for a long time I think it’s the fantasy part of it. I mean we are raised with the notion of princesses, especially that tie-in with Disney and the stories and the movies and all of those things…and it carries over and becomes that feeling of being magical."

Priced from $599 to 1,199, designer Alfred Angelo unveiled his collection of affordable wedding gowns inspired by favorite Disney princesses.
