Interactive Singapore museum links art and science

ArtScience Museum explores creativity of artisits and scientists alike.

Leonardo da Vinci is probably one of the best artists to represent the museum’s mission of combining the creativity of art and science. Recently opened in Singapore, the museum is one of the first to forge ties between two major areas that had previously been kept separate.

Opened in February at the Marina Bay Sands, a large resort and hotel in Singapore, the ArtScience Museum contains both artistic and scientific creations, two things Leonardo da Vinci excelled at.

A reproduction of his flying machine is one of the many exhibits in the 50,000-square-foot museum, spread over 3 storeys, and 21 different galleries.

The museum features a permanent collection, as well as temporary exhibits such as the Silk Road, Genghis Khan, Tang period treasures discovered from shipwrecks, and painter Vincent Van Gogh.

Designed by Moshe Safdie, the museum’s innovative architecture was inspired by the lotus flower.
