Beyoncé debuts new album’s first single

Run the World (Girls) makes radio debut.

Today (April 21), pop singer Beyoncé officially released her newest single, Run the World (Girls), after a demo version of the song leaked online earlier this week, reports MTV.

The first single from her as-yet-untitled album due out in June, made its radio debut at 8 a.m. this morning and is now available for purchase through iTunes.

Co-written by The Dream — who also helped Beyoncé write Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) — the girl-power anthem uses samples from the driving-beat dance club hit Pon de Floor by Major Lazer.

To help promote the new track, the singer has also posted a 17-second video teaser on her website. Titled B Revolution, the clip features disjointed images of the sunset and a car spray-painted with the word Révolution, before ending with a long shot of Beyoncé on horseback.

The teaser is likely a sneak-peek at the upcoming music video, which has already been filmed.

"I just shot a Beyoncé video at the beginning of this last week," director Francis Lawrence told MTV on Sunday (April 17). "The video’s for the song ‘Girls’ — it’s off her new album. She would probably have me shot if I said anything… Some stuff spilled out, but she wasn’t happy about it, so I’ve been sworn to secrecy."
