A huge fan of legendary British band Queen, Lady Gaga persuaded Brian May to play guitar on the track You & I for her new Born This Way album, reports British newspaper Daily Mirror.
The collaboration is a dream come true for Lady Gaga, whose stage name is derived from the Queen song Radio Ga Ga. The theatrical pop performer credits late frontman Freddie Mercury as one of her greatest sources of inspiration.
“Freddie was unique – one of the biggest personalities in the whole of pop music,” she said. “He was not only a singer but a fantastic performer, a man of the theatre, who constantly transformed himself. In short: a genius.”
“It’s always been Gaga’s dream to perform as Queen,” adds a source close to the 25-year-old singer. “If it wasn’t for Queen, there would be no Gaga. This collaboration with Brian May means the world to her.”
The new album is due out May 23.
