France’s Loire Valley adds more cycling trails

Popular trail network adds 60 km stretch between Briare Canal and Chateauneuf-sur-Loire.

The popular Loire Valley cycling network in France – La Loire à Vélo (Loire by Bicycle) – is extending its trails with an additional 60-kilometer stretch between the Briare Canal and Chateauneuf-sur-Loire, reports Routard.

Already, more than 800 km of bike trails cover the region, running through the UNESCO World Heritage site. The new section will take cyclists along the Atlantic coastline, with stunning views of nature and the region’s architectural marvels, like the Briare viaduct and Saint-Brisson-sur-Loire castle.

The trails are designed for cyclists of all levels, with a relatively flat route and a customizable itinerary that allows riders to set their own starting and ending points.

For visitors who would like to learn more, centers, museums, signposts and educational areas are placed along the trail, with information about the local history and ecosystems.
