Seether seething as Troy McLawhorn returns to Evanescence

Seether frontman Shaun Morgan "hurt and offended."

Guitarist Troy McLawhorn has returned to goth band Evanescence, causing a rift with his last band, Seether, reports Gibson.

McLawhorn first joined Evanescence in 2007, replacing their original guitarist John LeCompt. After only a year, he left to join Seether and has been with them since. Now it seems he is going back to Evanescence once again, leaving some hurt feelings in his wake.

"Interesting news about our old guitarist. Can anyone guess? He went to another band," Seether singer Shaun Morgan wrote on Twitter. "Little anti-Shaun club. Any more guesses?"

Morgan had previously dated Evanescence lead singer Amy Lee for two years. The pair did not part on the best of terms.

"Just wanted you guys to hear it from me first," added Morgan. "I am hurt and offended. We will go on and we will make ya’ll proud."

Despite the tension, Evanescence returns to the studio next month, due to start recording their first new album since 2006’s The Open Door. The band will scrap the work they have done to date and start fresh with McLawhorn on the guitar.
