Tips to prevent morning sickness

Home remedies may help minimize effects of nausea.

Morning sickness is an unpleasant and unfortunate side effect of pregnancy, but there are some holistic ways to help minimize the symptoms when prescription medications aren’t helping, reports Shine.

Controlling your diet can help to alleviate the symptoms of nausea. Eat several small meals throughout the day and try not to let your stomach sit empty for too long.

Fill up on yogurt, juice, milk or cottage cheese before bed and keep some crackers or bread on the nightstand so that you can eat before getting up — or, even better, have someone bring you breakfast in bed. When it does come time to get up, move from the bed slowly rather than springing to your feet.

Over-the-counter specialty candies like Preggie Pops or Preggie Drops can help with the nausea and dry mouth. These natural pastilles contain ginger and herbs which are thought to lessen symptoms. Mints also provide similar relief for some people, as the taste of peppermint can help to relieve feelings of nausea.

As always, you should speak with your healthcare provider before beginning a new diet or regime.
