Mary J. Blige announces album release date

My Life II, The Story Continues hits shelves on September 20.

American R&B singer Mary J. Blige will release her eleventh studio album, My Life II, The Story Continues, on September 20, reports MTV.

The upcoming album is intended as a sequel to Blige’s successful 1994 album, My Life, and will be her first studio release since Stronger With Each Tear debuted in 2009.

"From me to you, ‘My Life II’ … our journey together continues in this life," said Blige. "It’s a gift to be able to relate and identify with my fans at all times. This album is a reflection of the times and lives of people all around me."

The album’s lead single, Someone to Love Me (Naked), featuring Diddy and Lil Wayne, peaked at 66 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. According to Blige’s Twitter, the music video, directed by Collin Tilley, will debut officially on Friday (April 8) — although it has already leaked online.

The album is also expected to feature several other big names in the music industry, including Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Ne-Yo and Ryan Leslie.
