French fashion house Surface To Air has recruited New York DJ and fashionista Leigh Lezark to design an exclusive line of shoes for the brand, reports Vogue.
Lezark is a member of the Misshapes, a Manhattan-based DJ trio who have become known for their fashion sense and distinctive style, as well as their music and art.
Often seen sitting in the coveted front row at catwalk shows for major houses like Louis Vuitton and Chanel, Lezark will now try her own hand at designing professionally.
The DJ has created two pairs of platform shoes for Surface to Air: one black and the other dark grey. Meant to be both simple and elegant, the shoes feature a 13-inch heel shaped like an inverted pyramid, and feature Lezark’s signature on the sole.
Although known for her style, Lezark says that she wears what she wants and doesn’t worry about dressing to impress.
"I don’t obsess about photos in magazines or what the gossip columns say. Of course, there are times I look at a photo and think the fashion got messed up or my roots were five centimeters deep," she told InStyle magazine. "But if people don’t like how I dress, I don’t care. I dress for myself."
