Lady Gaga gets her own fashion and art column

Pop star joins the writing staff at V magazine as fashion and art columnist.

Pop star Lady Gaga, already well-known for her avant garde sense of style, will be joining the U.S. publication VMagazine as a fashion and art columnist, reports Elle.fr.

"I have some exciting news little monsters… I have lots of little presents planned for you!" the star announced via Twitter yesterday (March 30).

"I begin next month as a Fashion+Art Columnist for @VMagazine." According to MTV, Gaga’s first column will appear in the summer issue of V which is due out on May 12.

"V are proud to announce our newest columnist: Lady Gaga! Each issue, Mother Monster will put pen to the page, bringing us an editorial window into her fashion multiverse," the magazine announced in a statement.

In honor of her new position as magazine writer, Gaga has launched a new contest calledDrawn This Way. Instead of the usual headshot, the singer will use a fan illustration for each issue.

"Make your best Gaga – styled as an editrix, of course – in any medium you wish: pencil, watercolor, felt tip, CGI, collage, and even sculpture will be taken into consideration!" explains the contest site.

Gaga and V will select the first winning entry on April 4, and one lucky fan will see his or her artwork appear alongside Gaga’s inaugural column.

V is an American fashion magazine launched in 1999 as the ‘younger sibling’ publication to the limited-edition quarterly Visionaire. While Visionaire was seen as more of an exclusive haute-couture book, V is the less formal, more accessible, ready-to-wear alternative. The seasonally-printed magazine highlights trends in fashion, film music and art.
