Parisian perfume debuts in April

Hermès launches Un Jardin Sur Le Toit inspired by rooftop garden.

In April, French high fashion house Hermès launches its new fragrance, Un Jardin Sur Le Toit, inspired the rooftop gardens of Paris, reports Vogue.

The fourth in their Jardin (garden) series, the scent was once again created by longtime Hermès perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena.

After designing scents based on the gardens of the Mediterranean, Egypt and India, the fashion house found its inspiration closer to home, specifically the luxurious garden on the roof of Hermès headquarters located at 24 rue Faubourg Saint-Honoré.

Full of aromatic flowers, herbs, and fruits, the garden’s fresh and sweet-smelling aroma is composed of apple, pear, rose, green grass, basil, magnolia, and compost notes.

Hermès Un Jardin Sur Le Toit is available in a light green glass bottle in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette.

Hermès started its fragrance line in 1951. Since then, the company has created several scents for both men and women. Women’s include the recently created Kelly Calèche; others include Eau des Merveilles, 24, Faubourg, and Calèche. Men’s fragrances include Terre D’Hermès, Rocabar, Équipage, and Bel Ami.

Fragrances for both men and women include Eau d’Orange Verte, Un Jardin sur le Nil, Un Jardin en Méditerranée, Eau D’Hermès, Voyage d’Hermès, and eight scents in the Hermessence series which are exclusive to Hermès stores.

In 2004, Jean-Claude Ellena became the in-house perfumer or "nose" and created the successful Hermessence line of fragrances.
